Phân loại giới từ tiếng Anh

Bài trước chúng ta đề cập đến định nghĩa giới từ tiếng Anh và sự kết hợp của giới từ với các thành tố khác trong câu tiếng Anh, bài này chúng ta sẽ học về phân loại giới từ tiếng Anh và cách sử dụng với mỗi loại giới từ

Giới từ đơn

Ví dụ: at, on, in, by, about, across, over, under, of, for, to …

Giới từ ghép

Ví dụ: within, out of, upon, throughout, without, according to, except for …

Dạng phân từ (participial form)

Ví dụ: concerning, during, regarding, respecting, considering, notwithstanding, pending…

Dạng Phrase

• The football match was cancelled because of the heavy rain.
• She succeeded by means of perseverance
• The teacher can often, by mean of rough-chalk drawing on the blackboard, illustrate various things in the text.

Lưu ý: trường hợp vừa là giới từ vừa là trạng từ

Một số từ vừa được dùng như là một giới từ hoặc có thể được dùng làm trạng từ. Nếu là giới từ thì đi sau nó sẽ là một danh từ hoặc đại từ làm tân ngữ. Ngược lại, nếu là trạng từ thì không có tân ngữ. Khi đó trạng từ được dùng để bổ nghĩa cho động từ, tính tứ hoặc một trạng từ khác.
