Thể hoàn thành trong câu bị động, chủ động [participial phrase]

Chúng ta đã học một số hình thức cấu thành participial phrase như hình thành từ sự rút gọn mệnh đề câu phức, hình thức continuous form. Với hình thức perfect forms, ở thể chủ động hay bị động thì participial phrase mang hàm ý nhấn mạnh sự hoàn thành của hành động đã xảy ra trước hành động của động từ chính trong câu.

 Xét các ví dụ:

a. The secrets of the Universe, which have fascinated men for centuries, are slowly being revealed.

-> The secrets of the Universe, having fascinated men for centuries, are slowly being revealed (Present perfect active)

b. The film, which had been shown too often in movies theaters, did not attract a large audience when it was aired on television.

-> The film, having been shown too often in movies theaters, did not attract a large audience when it was aired on television. (past perfect passive )./
